Inaugural Dean, Lincoln Alexander School of Law
Donna Young is the Founding Dean of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Ryerson University (soon to be renamed). Before assuming her deanship, she was the President William McKinley Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy at the Albany Law School and a joint faculty member at the University at Albany’s Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in Albany, New York. Her research interests focus primarily on law and inequality, race and gender discrimination, and academic freedom and university governance.
Since becoming dean at the Lincoln Alexander Law School, Dean Young’s contributions to the legal profession in Canada have been recognized in several ways: she was the recipient of the 2021 Canadian Law Awards “Female Trailblazer Award;” the recipient of the 2021 “Top 25 Women of Influence Award”; the recipient of the 2021 University College Alumni of Influence Award at the University of Toronto; and acknowledged as one of Toronto Life’s 2020 Most Influential Torontonians.
